Tours will meet in Jackson Square and last approximately two hours. From Jackson Square, I proceed through the historical French Quality as I speak about the amazing history, architecture and famous occupants. One of the stops includes the former site of the home of our famous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau. From there, I enter the oldest African community in the United States, known as Treme, once named for a Plantation owner, Claude Treme. There I speak about some of New Orleans oldest traditions. Where some of our famous music originated. I explain our unique second line funerals, and the Mardi Gras Indian tradition. We visit the gigantic statue of Louis Armstrong. Normally, the tour would proceed to St. Louis #1 Cemetery located approximately 3 locks from Armstrong Park. However, unfortunately, due to COVID 19, the cemetery is closed until further notice. As an alternative, we will approach the front and side gates of the cemetery. There, you will be fascinated by the ornate tombs and the history of some of its occupants. I will also share photos and videos of the unusual burial process. I will explain how and why we bury our dead above ground.

I have been a tour guide for approximately 9 years in New Orleans. My tour guide services include, walking tours in the French Quarter, Garden District, St. Louis #1 Cemetery and #2. I can also create a customized tour to accommodate the tourist interest. (St. Louis #1 is currently closed to public access and St. Louis #2 is currently open on Sundays only)

I was born and raised in New Orleans and consider myself an authentic creole of French, Native American and African American descent.

Over my 9 years as a tour guide, I have consistently received 5 star reviews. I am a licensed tour guide. My license is issued by the City of New Orleans.

Despite not being able to actually visit the cemetery, Muriel still provided great video to capture some of the key elements. Her credibility and knowledge as a NOLA native made it special.

The tour of the French Quarter was very informative. Muriel had a good knowledge of the history. She was able to answer all of our question. My wife and I really like the small group.

This was a great walking tour and Muriel was an amazing host. It was clear that she had a robust set of knowledge from her time growing up here and supplemental research that she has done. Muriel was great at weaving in her personal stories which complemented the facts she shared and made the tour that much more enjoyable and personable.

Muriel graciously hosted my family and our puppy (who is still learning the ways of the world). She was passionate, informative, and kind. She may have even sparked my teenage daughter to consider college! I'll have to report back on that... we've tried unsuccessfully but now for the first time she's actually thinking about it! Thank you Muriel for your tour! I'm a life long learner and hearing our daughter actually consider university is amazing, you did inspire her!

Muriel was super friendly and open with sharing her family history. She had a great balance of sharing history, fun facts, and funny comments. This tour was the first thing we did on our trip and we were are so glad we were able to learn what we did about the architecture and history of the French Quarter, specifically highlighting slave and Native American history. I would recommend Muriel to any traveler!

Muriel knows her facts, but I’ve been on other tours and unfortunately she presents them in a fairly dry way, vs. great storytelling. You’ll definitely learn about the history of New Orleans from her, and she has access to a couple of cool spots. In particular, I liked her take on African American history in New Orleans. I learned a few things I had not known in that regard. But, it was all told in such an unemotional way that the tour had me looking at my watch often. If Muriel ups her game a bit, this tour could be excellent.
