Tours will meet in Jackson Square and last approximately two hours. From Jackson Square, I proceed through the historical French Quality as I speak about the amazing history, architecture and famous occupants. One of the stops includes the former site of the home of our famous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau. From there, I enter the oldest African community in the United States, known as Treme, once named for a Plantation owner, Claude Treme. There I speak about some of New Orleans oldest traditions. Where some of our famous music originated. I explain our unique second line funerals, and the Mardi Gras Indian tradition. We visit the gigantic statue of Louis Armstrong. Normally, the tour would proceed to St. Louis #1 Cemetery located approximately 3 locks from Armstrong Park. However, unfortunately, due to COVID 19, the cemetery is closed until further notice. As an alternative, we will approach the front and side gates of the cemetery. There, you will be fascinated by the ornate tombs and the history of some of its occupants. I will also share photos and videos of the unusual burial process. I will explain how and why we bury our dead above ground.

I have been a tour guide for approximately 9 years in New Orleans. My tour guide services include, walking tours in the French Quarter, Garden District, St. Louis #1 Cemetery and #2. I can also create a customized tour to accommodate the tourist interest. (St. Louis #1 is currently closed to public access and St. Louis #2 is currently open on Sundays only)

I was born and raised in New Orleans and consider myself an authentic creole of French, Native American and African American descent.

Over my 9 years as a tour guide, I have consistently received 5 star reviews. I am a licensed tour guide. My license is issued by the City of New Orleans.

Learning from Muriel (a NOLA native) was amazing!. I personally liked history as a subject in school and college and I learned new incredible history about the foundation of the city of New Orleans with Muriel’s private tour.

I really don’t get the high reviews?!? Host is nice, but tour fell flat. Host talked too much about herself, her jokes seemed awkward & canned (not candid or very clever & did not consider her audience). Most frustratingly, some of the ‘history’ details given were flat-out incorrect! Look elsewhere!! Had other tours on AirBnB that were great - this was a total miss though!

Confused us with other participants that didnt pay. My daughter and i were traveling from Johnson City TN to watch the Saints v. Cowboys game. It was just the two of us. I rcvd notice to pay a 3rd fee. There were two other women from Utah in the group, not associated with me or my daughter. There were 6 of us total, 2 men, 4 women. Two women left early from the tour...it was not us. She continued to call me dishonest and of poor character. Despite me offering to show her proof it was just myself and my daughter in my group. The tour ended at the cemetary and i did tkae photos ofbwhat we were allowed to see. Learned from the security about the bag of bones saying. Something thebother 2 women, again, not associated with me or my daughter, would not have witnessed. Shes wrongfully accused me of being dishonest and refused to discuss it or accept information documenting such. I have my booking info, my flight information, and AirBNB boarding info to prove im not associated with them women who did not pay for the 2 people of their party. They left close to or prior to the conclusion of the Congo Square part of our tour. There was only myself, my daughter, and two men.

The trip was of great historical accuracy, told by a person, born & raised in NOLA. Would recomend it as a day 1 trip for any tourist.

This tour was great! Covered a lot of ground and learned a ton about the French Quarter. Muriel was very knowledgeable and had tons of great stories along the way.

Muriel was friendly and so knowledgeable about the past if New Orleans. I think the history and her personal antidotes made the tour.
