I've pioneered the effort to beautify the Korean alphabet and uncover its artistic value. My work can be seen everywhere from TV drama titles to the city of Seoul’s official logo.
After a small walk around the village, we'll get acquainted over tea and snacks, then try our hands with ink brushes in the studio. You'll learn to translate your feelings onto the page through calligraphy using an ink brush. You’ll create a calligraphy masterpiece you can take home with you. Complete your day with Korean soju or makgeolli (rice wine), for which I designed the packaging.
Please let me know if you have any food allergies, including alcohol.
Tea and Snacks
Alcoholic Drinks and Anju After the experience, we will have Korean premium Makgeolli (rice wine) and Anju (side dishes) together.
Materials for Calligraphy Entire tools for calligraphy experience and creation. You will take your own work (folding fan and scroll) with you.
We’ll convene at my calligraphy school, Sooltong Calligraphy Institute in Seochon, a traditional village located west of Gyeongbokgung palace and is the birthplace of King Sejong, creator of Hangeul. Seochon has historically attracted many famed artists and writers to interact with each other.
