Firstly, you will listen to the 'Etenraku' the most popular Gagaku song, and then, see Bugaku "Ran-ryo-o" on the stage. Bugaku is an imperial court dance performance with gagaku music. Before the performance, we will guide what gagaku is and what they mean in Japanese history so you can understand the music in detail. Secondly, you will enjoy our workshop and try ancient costumes (it's not Kimono but Kariginu which is mostly used by aristocrats in the 10th century), and also try Gagaku instruments. You can touch every instruments used in Gagaku music and even make a sound by yourself. You will immerse yourself into Japanese ancient aristcratic music in our experience.
As a newspaper writer and a magazine editor, I interviewed many gagaku players and some top scholars, and learned deeply about the Gagaku, and got passionate to share the Japanese tradition with many people internationally so I established ANDNEXT, Inc. to realize my dream. My program won a contest of business project "Nanto Success Road" last year. All of the programs I provide will be performed by alumni of Tenri University Gagaku Music Society which is established in 1951 and have performed in over 42countries. I want people not only just to listen to the music but also to experience it.
We will conduct our GAGAKU EXPERIENCE at the restaurant "Park Side Kitchen". It's very in front of Tenri station, and it is in Tenri Station Plaza CoFuFun. It was inspired by a number of ancient Japanese tombs, known as “cofun”. A parking area is also available.
