We will start by learning the basics of the tools and materials that we are going to use. Aprons are provided and students seat on up to four individual potter's wheels. We then prepare our clay and our wheels in order to begin the making. We walk through the whole making process step by step focusing on the details of each technique required to successfully place and form the clay. Once we learn the basic techniques we move on to simple design ideas that we can apply to our pieces. Once we are done we discuss the basics of glazing and firing the pots. Students also have the opportunity to let us bake and glaze the pots. Pots are shipped by post or if given the appropriate time (which depends mainly on the weather) can be picked up within about 7 days.
A 31 year old professional potter. I have 8 years of throwing and glazing experience and 5 years of sharing my knowledge with guests in my family's olive farm. I was taught by a third generation Cretan potter. I can guide you and your hands into making your first ceramic pots following the traditional throwing techniques of Crete. Your pots can also be fired, glazed and shipped directly to your home.
