The French River and Georgian Bay area offer stunning scenery and opportunity for wildlife viewing such as osprey, beavers and occasionally bald eagles. After meeting at local landing, we will start out with a short lesson in a safe location near the landing. Primarily using kayaks we will go over some basic paddling skills and safety issues to get you going. Canoes are available as well. All instruction provided is based on Paddle Canada Standards. Once you are comfortable in your boat, we will head off on a paddle to practice your skills and see the sights. The area has features like the glacier scoured granite rock, windswept pines and clean fresh waters dotted with small islands. We use high quality 15-17 foot boats of reputable brands to make sure your experience is memorable and trouble free. Not your standard rentals!
I am excited to offer participants personalized opportunities to experience paddling in Northereastern Ontario. I am a Paddle Canada certified sea kayak instructor and have been leading paddling trips around North Bay and Sudbury for many years. I have led both multi-night trips and day excursions in the French River, Temagami, Lake Nipissing and Algonquin Park. To support my wilderness adventures I am also a Wilderness First Responder Instructor and am very enthusiastic about both topics.
