If you are visiting Santo Domingo for the first time, this tour is especially for you! Enjoy an action-packed, three-hour introduction to the buzzing capital of the Dominican Republic, the oldest settlement in the Americas. Prepare to discover a different side to the Caribbean as we take you on a whistle stop tour of Santo Domingo’s many historic, cultural and natural highlights. We will walk the UNESCO-listed Colonial District, where a large majority of the island’s cultural highlights can be found. As we go you will spot by the hand of a local a different point of view on how we live and enjoy this historical site. We will explain about the city's history, nature and vibrant culture. You will also be able to marvel at all the many ‘first’ buildings that are scattered across Santo Domingo; the first convent in the Americas, the first Hospital, the first restaurant and so on. Our last cultural stop will be at dominican Colmado where we will enjoy a refreshing Dominican beer at the most iconic social venue of the city. Our tour will finish with a walk along the Calle El Conde and a stop at Columbus Park. We we'll leave you for further exploring or having a good local meal.
I'm the founder of Santo Domingo Urban Adventures, and one of the few certified guides specialized in culture and nature in Santo Domingo. I spend most part of the day in the colonial district and I love it! It is the place where I work, where I meet with friends, where I eat and hang out during the nights. My friends Luis, Francis, Joel and I, want to introduce you into that scene from the inside.
Our tour starts at the Curas Alley, then we will take down to the first Bullfight Arena of the colony. We will see Macorix alley and discover the ruins of the first university and admire the first convent of the Americas. Then we will walk down some other firsts, taking the route of the neighborhoods, we will see the original pipeline and the find the first Tavern, first Palace among others. We'll end together with a cold beer at local colmado.
Please be at the meeting point 10 m before starting time; the tour departs on the appointed hour. If you are interested in scheduling a date not in the calendar, please inquire about availability.
