In this two and a half hour class I will show you how to take glass fusing materials such as frit, stringer, sheet glass, confetti and frit balls to create imagery on sheet glass. The sheet glass will act as a canvas for your design and will become a Menorah after I fire it. In the first half hour of live class a small talk about how glass is fired in a kiln will be given, a demonstration of how to use the glass materials will be shown, and then I will guide you through making your own fused glass menorah. Stencils will help you to create a personal and visually pleasing art piece. Later I will fire your work for you in my kiln and glue together the parts you have made into a menorah. Work can be picked up at my home the following week, or shipping arrangements can be made for an additional cost.
Couples and parent child teams can pay for one spot and make a Menorah together too!
Materials will be picked up at my studio in a contactless manner one hour before the live class. You will leave me your email address and phone number during pick up. I will send you a Zoom link for the class. After your work is dry you will drive it back to my studio for firing. The following week it can either be picked up or shipped for an additional cost.

I have been a practicing studio artist for over 24 years, using both natural materials and glass to create sculptures and utilitarian objects. I grew up with a glass artist for a mother and worked in the research and education department of Bullseye Glass for 2 years. After receiving a BFA in Glass and an MFA in Fibers I moved to Portland and established my studio. With over 24 years of experience in teaching art to both adults and children, I can lead students through techniques in a fun way to create a piece. My studio is a fun creative playground of art making I am happy to share.

Charissa was a great host! She has amazing artwork in her garage. The experience making the chanukkiah was great as she balanced helping us with technique and giving us creative space. Tea and music helped with a nice calming atmosphere. We can’t wait to see how our channukiah turned out!
