You'll be welcomed aboard my cosy art studio and floating home for three hours of blissful embroidery on a narrowboat in London. Ideal for beginners and experienced crafters alike, this relaxed workshop is meant to be a warm and comfy, alternative event for anyone looking for some calm making time amidst the exciting, but sometimes overwhelming busy-ness of the city. I will be providing pattern samples for traditional Christmas decoration shapes, and I will be teaching you all the stitches needed to make these. You will make at least one piece of folk inspired felt Christmas decoration that you'll be able to gift or hang on your Christmas tree as a memory of your time in London. Nothing is more precious than a good memory, or a handmade gift, I hope you agree.
I'm a trained artist, founder of Moody Bright Designs with three years experience teaching hand embroidery to small and intimate groups across London. I'm interested in the use of embroidery with recycled textiles as a way to promote a more sustainable and mindful lifestyle and as a way to celebrate the 'personal' rather than the mass produced. I love coming up with different project-based classes that incite interesting conversations about art and making.
A selection of teas and coffee will be available, including herbal teas and decaf tea.
Materials will be provided. These include embroidery threads, needles, felt, beads and patterns.
I will conduct this workshop aboard of my narrowboat. It's both my studio and my home. I recently renovated it with sustainability and zero waste in mind. It's a cosy, unique place full of character and quirky folk inspired hand painted furniture.
The location of the boat might change, please check with me when booking. If you're a family of 3, let me know and I might be able to book all 3. Also: cat aboard, please bear this mind.
