You will arrive in time to help get some of the goats ready to go for a walk in the woodland. After an explanation about the type of goats, their charecteristics, how we keep and look after them etc we will set off for a walk to browse the hedges, if wet we will take cover and spend time brushing the goats and looking in more depth at their management. After coffee and cake a demonstration will be given of how to make goats milk soap and you will have a chance to get involved and also to take the results home with you! You will also get a chance to learn how we make halloumi and ricotta cheese and taste some. You will be supplied with simple instructions as to how to make both cheese and soap to take with you whenever you leave.
I have been keeping pedigree goats for over 35 years and have shown them with great success for many years. We make halloumi cheese from the milk and also soap and shampoo! Our goats love people, love being cuddled and fussed over and we are passionate and knowledgeable about every aspect of goat keeping and their produce. We keep our goats on our beautiful smallholding in the Camel Valley in North Cornwall where we also grow a lot of our own food. We are qualified trainers, and experts in ecology and countryside management.
We will provide a pasty lunch of local freshly cooked pasty and local salad, vegetarian option available.
Tea, coffee etc provided
We will meet at Berry Lane Cottage, home of Iwerne Dairy Goats. The day will be both inside in our lovely farmhouse kitchen and outdoors in our beautiful grounds and gardens. It will depend on the weather but we can cope with both rain and sunshine! It is possible to book accommodation with us through Airbnb where we are superhosts, this means you can be ready and breakfasted ready to start your day.
Goats are quite large animals but ours are very friendly and loving but be aware. Rain wear may be necessary if the weather looks changeable. Please ask if you have any concerns about anything before
Walking with the goats!
