First and foremost we'll provide everyone with a quick safety debriefing. After we've gone over introduction and course of events for the day we'll jump right into a round of practice throws. During this practice round we'll coach each and every person how to safely and efficiently throw. Once we've cycled everyone through their practice throws we'll hop right into creating some of that juicy competition. Depending on the group size and time available. We'll move through a couple different games. We'll describe how our matches will play out and continue coaching everyone throughout the whole experience. Throughout the entirety of the experience we'll keep track of everyone's scores which are indicated by painted lines on our beautiful west coast timber targets. We will continuously commentate and announce the scores so that the competition heats up and so everyone stays engaged. We'll work through our experience and ultimately crown someone from the group as the Champion. This is the best. A close second is posing for cool photos for your posting pleasure. @axewoodcrew #whatthehuck
I am a retired professional football player of 8 years. I’ve also been in the fitness world for most of my life and coached athletes in Track and Football. This is relevant to axe throwing because I understand people’s physical mechanics. 1 technical tweak can mean the world in your success. I started Axe Throwing to empower people and have since lead over 10k people through this experience all over Canada. People always assume you have to be a big lumberjack. My goal is to pay close attention to each and every person that I coach to ensure they are having a huck’n great time.
I will be providing a safe space to throw the axes. I will also be providing targets with score rings on them.
Our experiences will take place in a variety of different places. We have an indoor range in the Callaghan Valley (20 minutes from Whistler Village) where we can have a big bon fire outside. The newly built barn has exposed beams that gives a rustic feeling. We also have an indoor man cave in Squamish (30 minutes from Whistler Village). Our access to different indoor/outdoor spaces enables us to facilitate a rugged experience. Anywhere.
Must be 12+ to participate but anyone can come cheer your friends/family. No experience necessary. The axes are only 1.25lbs (similar to the weight of an Ipad — your laptop weighs more).
