Join us on the farm which is nestled in the Dundas Valley, a part of the Carolinian Forest. We'll gather in the bank barn, with views of our horse pastures and the adjacent tallgrass prairies. I'll introduce you to the herd, along with some safe handling techniques so you understand how to better communicate and interact with the horses. From there you'll get the chance to slow down and spend some time with these amazing animals. Learn about how they interact as a herd, what they eat, how to groom them, and some ethical training techniques we use on the farm. There will be lots of photo opportunities throughout the experience!
I've been training, riding and loving horses for over 25 years, and now running a natural boarding farm which is an oasis for horses and horse lovers alike. Horsemanship is evolving and there's a new wave of ethical horsemanship surfacing. I'm excited to be a Harmony Horsemanship Level 1 instructor, have introduced positive reinforcement and liberty work into my training and having so much fun with it. Instead of using the horse as a tool for entertainment, I honour my herd and what they need to thrive first. In return, we get to build a connection based on mutual respect.
Local snack, tea or coffee & water
We will be spending our time on our 20 acre farm, nestled in the Dundas Valley. This is a pretty special place! Not only is it part of the Carolinian Forest, the province's most diverse ecological region, it's also part of the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve. Adjacent to the Bruce Trail, access to such a natural place helps our horses to live a more natural life, we're excited to show you how!
