I want to take you on beautiful secret walks which are off the beaten…
I want to take you on one of my favourite treks near Cusco. This one takes about four hours but including the transport it will take up the better part of the day. We begin by taking transport to a famous ruin about 45 minutes from Cusco. From there we trek downhill, skirting around a mountainside, then zig-zagging down and down into a deep, lush valley. Be averagely fit for this all-downhill walk. If you have bad knees or weak ankles, though, this walk is NOT for you given a section of slightly steep, loose, uneven and slippery-when-wet terrain.
Picnic I take bread, cheese, tomato, avocado. I also take boiled eggs, boiled native potatoes, olives and fruit.
Collective taxi or private taxi to the starting point, and public bus (14-seater van) from the hike's end point back to Cusco
Sun cream, hat and sunglasses
Raincoat just in case
A warm jacket and long trousers (no shorts)
Insect repellant (for the sandflies at lower altitude)
Hiking boots are recommended
Hiking sticks are handy
Don't forget your camera
