Ride upstate, hit the trail, and leave the city behind. On the first day, we'll hike and explore the mountains for several hours and find a place to set up camp. Along the way we’ll see iconic hemlock groves, pick wild berries, and breathe the fresh mountain air. After sleeping under the stars, we’ll get some vertical hiking under our belt and find a scenic viewpoint. Learn about the history, ecology, and geology that shaped the Catskills as we descend to town. Finally, we’ll canoe and take a refreshing dip at Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm.

I left a successful but unfulfilling corporate career in publishing to pursue my passion for connecting others with the outdoors and to share the restorative power of the wilderness with my fellow nature-deprived New Yorkers. My ADAPT approach to survival has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, and our adventures have been featured in Backpacker Magazine, Men's Health, and the Wall Street Journal.
We will be fewer than 100 miles north of New York City amid vast tracts of old-growth forest filled with giant ancient hemlock and birch trees, close to Margaretville.
