Orlando's Little Vietnam is the largest predominantly-asian community in the state of Florida. On this 3-hour walking tour, we will take a look at the history, culture, art, and food of this area. Sitting along Highway 50, one of the busiest roads in Orlando, lies Little Vietnam. Most people just zoom past it -- but this tour is designed for people who like to step off of the beaten path. This local community has been around for over 40 years, and during that time has seen a lot of changes -- yet remains the largest Asian community in Florida. This eclectic neighborhood is also part of the Orlando Main Streets Program, known as the Mills50 District, which is just one of 10 Orlando Main Streets. Your guide is a local who knows the ins and outs of each street of this neighborhood and will introduce you to the flavors, stories, and images that lie around every corner. You will explore asian markets, visit local shops, see public art murals, and don't forget...EAT EAT EAT a LOT of food along the way! Come hungry - because this tour is food heavy! What is included: -local guide -3-hour tour -history of the area -shopping time -LOTS of food! -FUN!
My name is Mandy and I am a third generation resident of this area. In 2017 I started giving tours as a fundraiser to support my local Main Street District. Locals and out of town guests alike have found these tours to be both fun and informative. When I travel outside of Florida, I enjoy taking tours with a local of the area to learn all the history and stories of the town instead of doing the traditional "touristy" things - so I decided to bring that idea home, to the Orlando area. My co-hosts are Alex & Betty. Alex was born in Orlando and has a degree in history from Appalachian State University. A collector of stories and flavors, Alex is a natural tour guide! Betty is a native Floridian, living in downtown Orlando since 2014. She is a passionate tour guide and advocate for exploring Orlando's hidden treasures. ¡Betty habla español!
Food & Drink Samples of food and/or drink from 6 different locations in the neighborhood.
After the Vietnam war, many Vietnamese traveled to America looking for a fresh start. The neighborhood at the intersection of Mills Avenue and Hwy 50 in Orlando became a place where they settled in and started their own community, a "Little Vietnam". This is the largest asian community in Florida, and is rich with food, culture, art and more. This 2 mile tour will introduce you to the flavors, sights, and stories of this unique Orlando community.
14歳以上の方10名まで参加できます。 Our walking tour will be an easy one mile walk with several stops along the way
