This is an introduction to organic farming in the city and how chickens not only play a significant role in Tampa's history, but are a great addition to gardens. Additionally, learn how to plant and harvest a chicken friendly yard/garden. Guests will have access to fishing and kayaking on their own or enjoying a bonfire and sunset weather permitting. At the close of the educational experience, a meal of fresh seasonal foods will be prepared and served.
Moving from the Country to the City was a tough adjustment for me ten years ago. I love the city, but missed having acces to gardens, wildlife, and a little land. About a hear ago I found the most special piece of land on the Hillsborough River that permits chickens, organic compost and most importantly access to a large waterfront area of the river. Now I want to share my knowledge of growing and cooking with natural organic foods and herbs as well as an opportunty to fish for your own food and enjoy a great glass of wine while taking in a sunset or a bonfire.
This is truly a spectacular part of the Hillsborough River that opens up wide north of the dam. The location is South of Hillsborough State Park which means that we sometimes get visits from some pretty large gators.
This is Florida. I will offer rain shelter, bug spray, water, etc., but this is an outdoor experince and it will likely be hot and moist during the Summer months.
