Steeped in history, eclectic East Austin has studios, cafes, and most importantly food trucks on nearly every block. Our tour meets at an Eastside coffee truck, where we'll introduce ourselves and head out! Grab a coffee if you wish and we'll kick off our tour, with the option to order different flavors at each stop. We'll also drive by local landmarks and a stop for photos at a mural by Austin artist Chris Rogers. If you want to get off the beaten path for a local perspective, this tour is for you! Once you book this experience, we'll send a message to confirm and inquire about accessibility needs or dietary restrictions. If you're interested in this tour but have special needs, a larger group, or younger kids, feel free to contact us. We'll try to accommodate your party if we can!
After settling in Austin a few years back, my husband and I sought out the delicious, eclectic cuisine we knew from my Houston hometown. We started by talking to immigrant families, local chefs, and long time East Austinites to find favorite spots beyond the Yelp reviews. These days, sharing Austin's history while enjoying our favorite East Austin food trucks is a part time passion!
We'll cover the cost of shared small plates at 2 food truck stops (bring $$ for other stops and additional eats)
Ice cold waters, if needed
A comfy ride to the food trucks (A/C included, of course!)
You'll get to experience a lot of delicious East ATX eats, but a favorite stop is Kenny Dorham's Backyard. We'll give the lowdown on this outdoor music venue while you choose from the surrounding food truck park. We'll also drive by a landmark baseball field, point out surviving (and thriving) Eastside businesses, and stop at a colorful mural of famous faces that remains unmarked on Google maps.
We offer transportation because parking can be tough. If there are more than 4 in your party or if you prefer to drive, we'll caravan instead. We'll make 4-5 stops. Dress for the weather as the tour is outdoors. Come HUNGRY.
