We'll meet up at our favourite Indian coffee shop which has been a favourite with taxi drivers in the area for years. As we get to grips with our first dish, we'll talk a bit about what the area we are in is all about and how it has become such a food haven today. We'll take a short walk along the road to our next foodie stop and hear about the famous Peranakan culture which makes this area such an interesting place. The colourful shophouses that line the streets make it a photographers dream but lets not forget we're here to eat. We'll try unique Peranakan snacks inside one of the shophouses. Moving on we stop by at a vibrant temple and see how food and religion mix before it's on to the original Katong Laksa. We'll explain the laksa wars and why even Gordon Ramsay missed out on this hidden gem. We'll get a chance to try hand rolled dishes, and dishes that are at risk of dying out as well as seeing how the area is adapting to the latest food trends. The whole experience will take about 3 hours and we guarantee you will not be hungry at the end.
We're a group of Singaporean friends who like nothing better than to show our friends (old and new) our favourite eating spots. Back in 2014 we got together with a mission to stop visitors to Singapore eating the usual tourist things. We know how good our local food really is because we've spent our lives chasing after our favourite hawkers and dishes and we want you to be able to experience them as well. Over time we have become friends with many hawkers and chefs which allows us closer access (and less queuing) as well as being the first to hear of new openings and pop ups.
Various bites. Uniquely Singaporean bite Vegetarian and vegan options possible.
On our food adventures we only go to locally run businesses. We believe that in order to keep our fantastic food culture alive it is important we preserve our historical dishes as well as encouraging the next generation to strive for tastier, lip smacking highs. Each of our stops has been specifically chosen with this in mind. To help our food heroes and to introduce you to the real food of Singapore. Nothing is dumbed down here.
