If you're visiting Cagliari you may have been to Poetto, the city's beach. If so, you will have noticed the hill that reaches into the sea on the right side of the beach. We will hike to its top! We will walk up the Devil's Saddle using an unmarked, almost hidden trail. This alternative path is more adventurous than the regular one: with a few climbs and descents, it offers a more scenic passage to the summit, passing through the 15th century Spanish tower. Once on top we will eat, rest, and enjoy the view. I will tell you about the history and legends of the city, the gulf, Sardinia, and its people. We will then descend back to Marina Piccola using the more gentle pathway on the other side of the mountain.
I was born and raised in this city: I regularly climb these mountains, live this town, and sail these seas. I love nature, and with 13 years of scouting experience on my back, I have hiked all over Sardinia, on the Swiss Alps, in Liguria's woods, and in Poland's primeval Białowieża Forest. The idea to host this experience came to me as I took on this trail several foreign friends who were visiting me here - they loved it!
I will make you some tasty Italian panini :)
We will meet in Marina Piccola. We will hike up on the Devil's Saddle mountain, and back down on the other side. The path we go up on depends on the ability of the group. Then, we will part in the same place we've met.
