Come get your dose of animal therapy in a sun-filled studio in one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods. This 75-minute workshop is about moving, stretching, and being aware of your own body, while baby goats frolic and perch on you! We will talk about goat mythology and symbolism, connecting to the natural world hidden in plain sight, and touch on animal therapy as a medical intervention. This is a small group class with a high goat-to-human-ratio, so expect a lot of contact time. Please note, this event is INDOORS so it's happening rain or shine!
I have been teaching yoga and working with animals for the past 13 years, and am continually exploring their overlap. I have spent the past decade studying agriculture, apprenticing with animal trainers, and working as a consultant for local nonprofits. I strongly believe in the importance of interacting with the natural world. The goats live with me on my half acre urban farm, and it is surreal to have the opportunity to bring them to Blue Island Traditional Medicine, my holistic health clinic in a historic 140-year-old building in the heart of Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.
Water and herbal tea.
Blue Island Traditional Medicine is a holistic health center in the heart of Pilsen. This 1870's building has pre-Chicago Fire architecture, including fourteen-foot tall stamped tin ceilings and marble floors. What was once a bank, saloon, and lodgehouse is now a majestic healing facility full of plants, sunshine, and magic.
