If you've ever wanted to learn more about Yoga and to have some quality 1:1 time with a teacher in an inspiring location then this personalised experience in a beautiful setting, overlooking the sea and historic Brighton landmarks, could be just what you're looking for. Since Yoga was developed and inspired outdoors in nature by the ancient Sages in India thousands of years ago practising Yoga outdoors is a very authentic experience. Upon confirmation of booking, you can choose to have your private Outdoor Yoga session on the pebbles beside the ocean (depending on the tide), or on the Lawns beside the candy-coloured beach huts, overlooking the sea. There's nothing like being beside the water, hearing the sound of the lapping waves to calm the mind, and support the 'Mindfulness' experience. Equally, lying on the grass on Hove Lawns is very relaxing, and "grounding", connecting us to the Earth energy. After some health and safety questions, I'll discuss the session with you, and tailor it to your individual needs, eg, it can be a calm, relaxing, mindful class, or a more dynamic session with standing and balancing postures/sequences, a combination of both, or even to work on some specific concerns or asana queries you may have. The session always finishes with the practice of Savasana, deep relaxation, lying on the mat/ground.
My name is Sarah and I run Karmiyoga.com, a Yoga, Coaching and Wellness business in Brighton and Hove. I’m passionate about Yoga and for over 12 years I've been I've been helping people experience an amazing sense of calm and peacefulness through Yoga & Mindfulness via my Soul Soothing Yoga sessions, Reiki Energy healing and Life Alignment Coaching. I've been teaching Yoga since 2007, following a Sivananda teacher training in India then a Dru Yoga teacher training program in London, and I've been hosting "Ocean Yoga" (flowing, energising and uplifting Yoga/Mindfulness sessions) on Hove seafront since 2009. In 2018 Ocean Yoga was filmed for Visit Britain’s “Wellness in Sussex” tourism campaign and my sessions have been featured in Waitrose and Zest Magazine.
I will bring a Yoga Mat to the session for your use, or feel free to bring your own with you.
Yoga on the seafront is a very sensory experience; being in nature helps us connect to the earth and elements. Yoga was developed and inspired in nature by the ancient Indian Sages and Yoga outdoors is an incredibly authentic experience . On hot days in the pure sunshine you can cool off in the sea afterwards, or enjoy a cooler Sunset session, followed by "Savasana" (relaxation) snuggled on your mat, with a warm blanket, like being at a festival!

A yoga mat/towel or blanket, water to drink, sunscreen – and swim-wear to Ocean Yoga, in case you want to go for a swim in the sea afterwards! A good tip is to wear layers, plus bring a light blanket/something warm to wear for the relaxation.
These 1:1 sessions are tailored to the individual and are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have already practised some Yoga and would like to develop further, and enjoy the experience of practising Yoga in a blissful location. The session duration is 75 minutes.
