Take a ride on a tractor-drawn trailer up the slopes of Mngxoleni Mountain behind Emazizini Village. We'll stop at a deserted cattle kraal, the remains of an earlier settlement, and take a short walk to see the amphitheater rising dramatically above the valley below. During the tour, you'll hear stories accompanied by the beat of a drum, and we encourage you to try some traditional dance steps. To complete the tour, you'll enjoy a drink and snack while you watch the flow of daily life or sunset over the village below.
Having lived in rural KwaZulu-Natal all my life, I know all about true African hospitality. We never turn away a traveler, both local and foreign. It is our custom to never allow a person to leave our home without having shared a part of our lives with them. Your host for the tractor ride is a well-known community member who has been with the Emazizini community since he was born and works in the maintenance office in one of the local hotels.
