I am a New Orleans native, born & raised here and very active in the community, which means I take pride in everything I do when it comes to #NOLA. Just to give you guys a heads up, I'm one of the former Mardi Gras / Second Line "Kings of "TREME" which i handed my crown over to the legendary "Trombone Shorty" so i'm looking forward to educating you on the history and culture of my beautiful city .

Highly recommend. This was a very educational tour, and Hollis had great knowledge to share which I am grateful for, I walked away with a new insight and perspective which is important and Hollis is very comfortable to be around. I highly recommend this tour however, I left a little confused because this wasn't what I thought I was signing up for. The description sounded like more photography was involved, and based on the photos posted, so I was expecting it to be more street photography (ie people) like I've taken in other cities outside of tourist areas and there wasn't much. Maybe I was reading too much into the description just from previous experiences. There wasn't any teaching of photo editing mentioned and no prints being sent off to get printed, to my knowledge, or included drinks. We were supposed to stop at a bakery, I think it was, but because we were vegan he had us skip it but I thought that it would be somewhere I could buy a drink. Later I did point out a vegetarian stand we passed that looked good for something quick to grab and support, I wished I was more assertive to ask to stop at but I didn't want to stray from his plan. We did end up asking Hollis if we could run into a gas station to get water. We unexpectedly witnessed a jazz funeral, which sounds sad, but it was an amazing experience to see how it's more of a festive parade and celebration of life. I felt fortunate for that unique experience. I didn't really get any photos because it was packed, I got a lot of arms holding up iPhones, since it was a funeral of someone I didn't know, I didn't feel comfortable fighting my way in to capture a lot. It was still a great tour and you should book it but I feel I should mention all that in case someone else is expecting more along the lines of what I was.

Host is thoughtful and considerate of your time. He also provided a great list of places to eat while in NOLA and some nightlife events to attend.

Hollis was an amazing tour guide! You can tell he loves his city and the people who live here! His passion for his community really shows through the tour itself and through his interactions with the people we encountered!

Very historical tour with cultural insight into the depths of new orleans and the timeline of its communities progression. Tour guide himself had a rich depth of history into the community as well.
