Cava Sabering Workshop!
-A Brief History of Champagne Sabrage (Modern day Cava Sabering!)
-Technique on cava sabering, safety controls etc.
-Live demonstration with a glass or two of cava for each participant
-Each participant is shown what to do and each sabres a bottle of cava
-After-sabering speakeasy where we drink what we didn't spill, with nibbles.
*NOTE: This class is scheduled on alternating days with my other experience; Class in a Glass. It may be possible to schedule in a Sabrage class if the other class is not booked. So please contact me to ask if a different date is possible. Thanks!
Other things to note
This workshop teaches champagne sabrage. We are working with a large knife, broken glass and alcohol, so you need to follow my instructions and also sign a liability waiver to be able to participate.

I'm a long-time Barcelona resident with many years training with wines, including WSET Level 2 in wines and a sommelier diploma from the Gremi de Restauracion de Barcelona. My Barcelona wine academy has been open since 2017 and I give different types of wine tasting classes, including my most unique event: The Art of Cava Sabring (Champagne Sabrage).

The experience was amazing. Zarita is patience and expert, kind and funny. The place is sooo cool and the lesson interesting and really well done. Amazing food, amazing Cava and little souvenirs in the end (you'll find out). The host is friendly and she spent a lot of time talking with me after the lesson, telling me about herself and making me feel welcome. I really raccomend this experience. Super cool and suggested directly by the Airbnb Staff.

This is literally an incredible experience. I did it with two friends and also brought my mom along and everyone absolutely loved it! We had the best time and Zarita was amazing. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique experience and not the boring tapas tours and such.

We signed up for the cava sabrage class on a bit of a whim, it’s something I’ve always wanted to try but had never had an opportunity. Zara was a great teacher, gave a good mix of actual sabrage experience and history (and of course lots of cava!). I was able to do it on my first try and she really makes the experience feel personal! I would definitely recommend doing this while in Barcelona!!

Wow, bubbles and blades do mix!! My friends were indeed impressed with my cava sabrage videos! Zarita was professional, informative and personable! My husband and I ended up with a private session, so lots of one-on-one time. This experience is well thought-out: a bit of history, a bit of practice, the big moment, the celebration! All held in a very cool, personal, and safe wine store space. The saber is dull, and the "magic" happens via technique, exploiting bottle weakness and utilising the power of the bubbles within - but it's still incredibly exciting to lob the top clean off a cava bottle!! As a bonus, Zarita thoughtfully conceived of how to create a special "souvenir" of the experience by providing the tools to turn the bottle top into a keychain! Copious champagne, cheese, crackers, water and stories provided. A highlight of our trip to Barcelona (possibly of my life), the best present ever for my "wine aficionado" husband. Do this - you will not regret it!!
