We will spend the day exploring the creative energy of a vibrant township with its historical narratives, so that you can better appreciate the artistic output of the locations. We will go and see visual artists who are experienced and work in prints, oil paintings, and murals. We will also walk past the Alexandra Mall on our way to visit local artists. The day will end in what I call the Bo-Kaap of Alexandra township where we will sit down and enjoy a poem written by myself, the Lion of Alex, and enjoy a traditional home-cooked meal by our gallery home owner - Mama Queen.
I am a community builder, art enthusiast and the only lion of Alexandra. I enjoy showing guests the creative scene and positive projects happening in the Townships of South Africa mostly here in Alexandra. Alex, my home, is full of inspiring stories of old and young people, artists, sports figures, and a diverse range of cultures from Africa. I saw a need for people to see my hood as one of the heritage sites in South Africa.
