We will look at the low tide chart and pick a time to meet at my comfy house in Cambridge, Maryland. Over hot tea or coffee, I will explain where we will be going and what you can expect to find. I will give you tips to make your hunt super successful. I will show you samples of jewelry and art projects that you can make with your day's finds, should you be so inclined. We will then get in our respective cars. You will follow me 30 miles to my favorite sea glass town, where there are 3 excellent beaches within feet of each other. I will show you around the first beach and then let you hunt for glass in peace. I will set up a table and chairs nearby, so that we can enjoy hors d'oeuvre and conversation by the water's edge. I will then lead you to the second beach. While you are exploring that area, I will go pack up table and food. We will walk the third beach together. By the end of the day, you will have bags full of goodies (depending on your taste): sea glass, smooth rocks, oyster shells, small pieces of driftwood, maybe even bird feathers. You are guaranteed to have enough glass to make a white Christmas tree or wreath. I will provide the styrofoam cone and small embellishments for your tree or wreath, free of charge (included in price).
After owning art and gift shops in both St. Michaels, Md and Cambridge, Md for 20 years, I decided to close my stores and become a full-time artist myself. Slowly, but surely, I taught myself how to use a Dremel to make sea glass, porcelain, and driftwood sailboat-shaped necklaces. I go sea glass hunting 3-4 times a week, but since I can only use triangular shaped sea glass for my sailboat jewelry, I leave TONS of glass behind. I have decided to share my special spots with a select few people...no reason why all of that treasure should go to waste!

Our trip will take us to the southernmost part of Dorchester County, Md, just off the Chesapeake Bay. On our way to the sea glass beaches, we will pass through some incredibly beautiful land...including parts of the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. You will see a combination of bald eagles, herons, osprey, and white egrets. We may even have to stop our car to help a turtle cross the road. This area has been described as 'Heaven on Earth.'
I suggest you bring items that you would ordinarily take if you were going on a hike or taking a stroll on your own favorite beach. You won't encounter anything dangerous or treacherous on my beaches.
