I welcome up to six guests on my classic yacht in the maritime neighborhood of Annapolis, known as Eastport. We meet at Pier Four Marina where you may use the shoreside restrooms and then board "Non Sea Quitter". After stowing your gear and a brief safety demonstration, we'll motor out into the harbor. You'll enjoy my stories and tales of the Bay, peppered with my wit and dry (or is it wet?) sense of humor .Sometimes we'll quickly raise sails and head toward the Chesapeake. Other times we may linger around the harbor under motor or cruise up the Severn Scenic River. Guests can sit back and relax, or take the wheel and raise sails as I point out and interpret items of interest. We'll see the busy boating activity, City Dock, the Naval Academy and may go up famed "Ego Alley". We might cruise by iconic Thomas Point Lighthouse , the Chesapeake Bay Bridges or go alongside massive cargo ships at anchor. We sail back as the sun sinks over the horizon and dock at dusk. ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS--join us as we watch the yacht races vying for first place with their colorful, billowing spinnakers !! Enjoy any of the nearby restaurants--and if you make reservations with me, you can stay aboard for the night or at my home-airbnb just a short walk away. Just come and enjoy my Bay--and yours too.
My favorite childhood memories are of boating around Annapolis in the 1960's and 70' s as my family were members of a old, rustic, communal, waterfront club. I remain devoted to preserving, sharing and writing about our local history and environment. Although I've sailed from Maine to Florida, the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Sea of Cortez, Canada and Gulf of Mexico, the Chesapeake is my home. Sailing on and sharing the Bay with you on the boat I personally restored is a labor of love--a lifetime of love on the Chesapeake. As a native, journalist and lifelong environmental activist and professional (as well as sailor...) I welcome you aboard for a truly memorable evening on the Bay.
We have cold filtered water. On board is a refrigerator and electric coffee pot.
Come see why Annapolis is known as The Sailing Capital of America and why Chesapeake Bay is known as the Land of Pleasant Living. Enjoy the exciting maritime neighborhood of Eastport and the busy harbor. You never know what we might see. Come on Weds. nights to see the colorful yacht races! Help me raise sails and steer or just watch the clouds roll by and relax.
