After a welcome coffee to our XV century old house, we'll go downstairs to the stables to brush and saddle up the horses, and then we'll ride for about two hours across the silent, ancient landscape of Segarra, the Catalan Tuscany, on our way to some small medieval Catalan village. Wheat and barley fields, organic wineyards, old almond and olive trees, hills and slopes furrowed by ancient dry stone walls and incredible views will melt before your sight. Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden before, you'll be a small group so we will be on hand to help, instruct and support you. After riding you can explore our small village and go up to the XI century watchtower to see the amazing views. Then we will cook and share a traditional paella in our garden made with homegrown and very local products, while we talk about life and passions. And, from May to October, you can also swim in our natural pool. So don't miss your swimsuit!

I'm an expert Catalan equestrian guide and beekeeper, lover of history and nature. I was born and grew up in Barcelona, but I spent all summers of my childhood in a small village with my grandpas, where I learnt a lot about animals and nature. That's why fifteen years ago I decided to follow my heart and move to a medieval manor house in Segarra region to spend all my time to be with horses and farmers, which have always been my passion. Now I'd like to share my dream came true with you all.

We had a fabulous time riding with David. We were introduced to the horses he matched to our experience level, and spent time grooming them before starting out to create a bond and confidence level. The area was magical and David filled us in on the history. The beautiful weather was a bonus. Afterward we had time to explore the town and then enjoyed an amazing lunch prepared by David. It was an exceptional day!

My friend and I took the bus from Barcelona and David met us. We had spent the past 32 days walking the 800k Camino de Santiago (Frances) and we had booked this experience before we left home, as part of our post-walk “vacation” week in Barcelona to wind down in the warm sun and acclimatize back to city life before flying home. It was a magical, technicolor day from start to finish. It was cold with a brisk wind but beautiful blue skies. A gorgeous drive to his village, and I loved the music that David was streaming. I used the Shazam app to source a few of the songs so I can make some new playlists later. His village is breathtaking and lovingly cared for. The horses that he selected for us were perfect and it was very special to be able to groom them before we rode them, to create a bond. My horse, Mel, kept turning around and looking me in the eye while I brushed her. She’s a very curious old soul, so I gave her cat love eyes - the slow blink - to communicate trust and affection. My friend and I have also been blessed to have been caregivers for a day to both elephants and tigers in Thailand. We brushed, bathed, fed, and walked them, and we played with tigers and watched them play together in a lagoon, and we rode elephants bareback. We are animal lovers extraordinaire as well as volunteers and animal guardians to rescue animals. We saw firsthand in similar epic experiences at two different grassroots rescue conservation parks that bonding with the animal in your charge over food and love and fun is very important. Those Thailand experiences were sublime - we saw happy animals allowed to be themselves, with their individual personality safe to come out, enjoying and engaging in every moment. David’s horses are similarly well-loved and happy, with their own personalities and sense of humour. Mel has the same impish nature and love of eating as my elephant, Nui, whom I’ve cared for twice now over six years. We had a captivating ride through the countryside and learned about the colourful history of the area. After we returned from riding, we brushed them again and I gave Mel a massage and Reiki. Her eyes closed and she kept yawning and leaning into me, she was so relaxed. Then we gave them treats before we took them back to the herd and the herd joyously welcomed them back. Some of the Camino Frances can be remote and we were walking in September-October during COVID-19 so there were much fewer numbers of pilgrims and more albergues and bars closed than usual. Some days we only saw 20 other pilgrims and we might be the only pilgrims in the albergue and we might be eating another bocadillo because that’s all that the few bars that were open served for lunch. It was a wonderful treat to relax in a lovingly restored, historic and comfortable home and have a fresh and delicious meal cooked and served to us after more than a month of living out of a backpack and eating pilgrim’s meals with the occasional tapas mixed in. David is a warm and gracious host and an excellent cook. He made us fideua – Catalan noodle paella – and a delicious salad and dessert. His oak honey was perfect with the dessert – malty and savoury and not too sweet - so I bought four jars for myself and my three sisters. We flew home yesterday and today I had the honey with natural yogurt. It’s addictive and satisfying so I think that I’ll finish my jar within the next month, if not the next two weeks! All of his cats were out hunting and roaming all day – we drove by one successful mouser on the way in - but David had a 2-month old kitten at home that was very playful and affectionate so it was a 5-star day all around. An enchanting glimpse into Catalan life. All in all, a perfect day and a dream come true that I will happily repeat the next time I am in Spain.

One word, amazing. The reservation process and communication a priori was easy and more than kind, when we were unsure about the weather David directly offered to do the trip on Sunday in case of rain. Also the knowledge and explanations of David around the horses generate a lot of security. He answered all our questions and choose the horses according to our levels. I have never ridden a horse as an adult, however the one horse “Mel” he assigned me, was very educated and very calm and followed all my commands. The landscape he led us through is magical and unique. We enjoyed the ride so much! Afterwards David invited us into his wonderfull house and garden for lunch and wine. Which was super delicious. He also dedicated a lot of time to ask about us and to explain the stories and culture of the region. We recommend this trip to everyone who wants to live the experience of horses, nature and the real Catalunya. Thank you so much David! We will definitely come back

Quins paisatges! Quins cavalls! 10/10

My partner and I really enjoyed our time with David. The horses were really looked after and David’s house was incredible. He went to a lot of effort to make sure we were very comfortable and had a nice time. The lunch he made us after the ride consisted of all homegrown or local produce and was one of the best meals we have had on our trip. We can’t wait to come back and would thoroughly recommend.

Today we went horse riding with David. It was really magical, the horses were really well behaved and the environment was so pittoresque and idyllic! David was a great host and we really enjoyed his paella (he made a vegetarian one for us because we asked for it). We had fantastic, organic and local wine and a tasty dessert. It was a pleasure! :) Gràcies!
