You will discover a unique sensory and culinary experience when you enter the door of a Basque's Secret Gastronomic Society in Old Town (members only private club) and taste our local cheese that come from a 500 years old Basque cider house. If we find more members at the kitchen during our visit to my Gastronomic Club, you can interact with them while they are cooking some local dishes. We dive straight into the culinary heart of the city for a night of eating and drinking unlike any you’ve ever experienced. From fresh prawns to line-caught baby squid to perfectly charred steak, the pintxo hunt changes nightly but always features a range of traditional spots and chic, avant-garde bars. Come thirsty, too, as we’ll be pairing each pintxo with the perfect pour, from cider to local whites and reds. We’ll start by enjoying “txakoli”(local white wine) at the oldest wine cellar in Old Town where you will know the secret of Txakoli wine, before heading into hidden side-streets towards 4 of the city’s most loved pintxo bars + foodie temples. I will teach you how to ‘throw cider’ into your glasses, how to choose the best pintxos, all the while indulging in some of the best pintxos and Basque finest wines. There is not a better overview of the local food scene
I am a native Basque man from San Sebastian. I manage an International Conference on Food Tourism and also i am travel writer. As true foodie I have a passion for finding the best food and drink while supporting locally-owned eateries. So i decided to create a food tour taking travelers around to sample best pintxos (tapas) in San Sebastian. And I want to take you around the Old Town where we live in, to do the same. We lead you through the historic Old Town, a Basque wine cellar, tasting “Txakoli”, before following the crowds to the next spot. We visit classics and the top avant garde pintxo bars, where you will sample best pintxos. Tour finish visiting an old Basque's Gastronomic Society and interacting with some members while we taste our local cider and best local cheese. (not always we will find members at the club).
