We will begin the private surf lesson by meeting at the beach (Grandview Beach in Encinitas) where you will be provided with all the necessary equipment (Surfboards, Wetsuits, etc.). We will then make our way to the sand where you will be given detailed instructions about the surfboard, the ocean environment, and proper safety measures. While on the beach we will also practice the techniques of paddling and standing up on the surfboard to ensure greater success in the water. Once we are done on the shore, we will make our way out into the water. Depending on the experience of the student and the current ocean conditions, students will experience being pushed into waves as well as attempting to paddle in on their own (if you desire). For more experienced surfers that prefer to paddle out on their own, we can paddle out together and I can provide tips, tricks, and methods to improve your surfing. The entire lesson will last 1.5 hours. I’ll see you at the beach. Stoked!

My name is Daniel Bocater and I was born and raised on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. I have been surfing since I was 6 years old. The ocean and surfing are my passions and I love sharing the surreal experience of riding waves with all of those I teach. I have surfed competitively through high school and college and enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience. I moved to Encinitas from Kauai when I was 13 years old. The surf experience I offer is unique in that I provide you with a traditional Hawaiian surfing experience on the California coast. I have been teaching surf lessons for 5 years and have helped hundreds of people meet their surfing goals. I am also Brazilian and can teach lessons in Portuguese. Mahalo!
