We will meet each other in the monterotondo/mentana station, that is really close to some shops were we'll buy some vegetables and other stuff that we'll need for our experience. Starting from flour, water, salt and yeast, we will create handmade bread along with some typical Sicilian dishes, dosing the goodness that mother nature gives us. We will learn to use a precious tool: "Our Hands!", and the secrets that my grandmother "Flora" left us, peering at her ancient, and very current "recipe book", which will open the doors of our kitchen, and will host us in this experience where we will be all "Mastri Fornai" for a day. So we will hear the sound of the knife breaking the crust of the bread just emerged from the oven, and then it will be time to eat a special gourmet lunch inspired by Sicilian Street Food. Finally it will be the turn of a tour to discover the historic center of Capena, where you can buy different products at Km 0, and admire ancient medieval villages.
Thanks to the lessons of Grandmama "Flora" first, and Papà "Salvatore" later, today I represent my family's third generation of bakers; we started in 1932 with the first bakery in Sicily; today we have two: one in Catania (Sicily) and another one in Capena (Rome). The passion combined with the technique, were the real engine that managed to make us cross the time, without feeling the effort.
