Hop on to this experience about history, food and the genuine rural ways in Mexico City. Be prepared for an early 7:30 departure from meeting point at the center of "Colonia Roma” for our 60 minutes trip to the first destination. Escape with us from rushing CDMX to get closer through the GREEN countryside of Mexico City to experience the real farmers market. We’ll kick off at a local market for a typical Milpa Alta breakfast (Atole and Tamales). After we'll head to see first hand where the agricultural products that supply a large part of the country are sold getting to know an authentic mexican farmers market. Next, you’ll learn about the importance of cactus/"nopal" visiting an organic orchard in which you’ll have a “how to cut & choose your own cactus class” during our stay at a cactus farm in which history, flavors, local producers and pure green color will make you closer to our national treasure. Prepare your harvested for a “made in the moment taco meal”, while you are delighted with only local products of the region, get to know more closely about Luz Jimenez as a symbol within the mexican identity (the indigenous woman who inspired Diego Rivera in his pictorical works), the revolutionary Emiliano Zapata and many more mexican legends that left a legacy in Milpa Alta. After finishing our meal we'll be ready to go back to our meeting point at Colonia Roma.
I’m an enthusiastic local guide very passionate about the application of sustainable tourism in Mexico. Since 2010 I’ve been a tv journalist who writes and photographs about mexican traveling routes as well as a wanderer in love with my country. I’ve been fortunate enough in meeting new places and new ways around Mexico. Since then, I’ve devised new ways to promote the importance of the region for more people who want to immerse themselves in the traditional and cultural ways each place has to share. The gastronomic Mexico City’s rural southernmost borough is your chance to meet the busy lovable city in a different perspective. I'll love to share with you a tasteful and historical experience. As a big time traveler, I know the importance of truly engaging with local ways.
