We will dive into the elegant art of Hand-lettering. Similar to calligraphy in style, yet different in materials, lettering only requires basic washable markers, sharpies, or your favorite pen. We will begin by exploring the basic strokes of lettering. From there we will examine different styles to diversify our artwork. Once we feel comfortable with some of the basics, we will begin lettering words and longer quotes. Ultimately, you will create a card or small poster that you feel proud of, and that represents you well. Great for groups! Great for teams! An awesome experience for all.
Other things to note
The best set up for this experience would be to use your device and put it so that you have both hands free. Lettering requires working on any hard surface like a table, clipboard, desk, etc. I am looking forward to creating art together.

Hey, I'm Kindred--elementary and high school teacher by day and master hand-letterer by night! If you were to ever get your hands on one of my childhood journals, you will spot my sweet attempts as "calligraphy" that I completed at school with any sort of sparkly and sharpened pencil. Once I truly learned the art of lettering, I could not be stopped from crafting on every blank surface--other than the walls. As stress relief, I mastered lettering in my time as an undergraduate at Wellesley College and a graduate student at Harvard University. From cards for friends to posters for classrooms to the pages of my own journal, I enjoy using pens, watercolors, markers--any sort of writing utensils--to artistically present my favorite quotes and sayings or just my love for those around me.

Kindred managed to connect with the participants on a very personal level. Even though I was miles away it felt like she was sitting in front of me. I appreciate that Kindred was not in a rush but rather gave us all the time we needed to connect to the art of lettering. You will love it.

Kindred provided a great class for learning lettering. She was friendly, knowledgeable, kind, fun and helpful. She also created a great atmosphere among all the class participants. She gave clear instructions on what supplies to have on hand, but also put you at ease if you didn't have all the supplies, and offered suggestions of common materials you could use instead. She did a great job!

This was a fantastic class! Kindred taught the basics of handlettering with an excellent blend of explanation and demonstration, and gave very useful practice exercises to develop our skills before getting into the harder projects. She was very responsive to questions, giving great support for the trickier aspects of handlettering. I would definitely take this class again!

Kindred was friendly and approachable, and her experience as a 2nd grade teacher lent itself well to breaking down beginner hand lettering to a level where anyone can succeed. I particularly loved the three simple take away "rules" that was so much easier to work with than the wordy books I've perused. I also appreciate that no special materials were required (tracing paper, particular pens, etc), yet I know where to go when I've progressed enough to justify a better quality/variety of styles of pen sets. Kind, encouraging, and shared her own projects, and guided us where we could go for inspiration. Thank you!

I learned so much and had a ton of fun. I invited my niece and daughter to join me because we couldn't be together over the holidays. This was a great bonding activity, and we all hand lettered each other's names. It was super cute. We really loved Kindred who leads a great course. She's so personable and warm, and you will come away amazed at the great progress you've made in such a short time.
