This unique walking tour will wander through Melbourne's most iconic and eclectic neighbourhoods, Fitzroy and Collingwood, and take in their diverse history, culture and hidden sights as we go. You will discover incredible street art murals, hear of local Aboriginal history and experience the alternative cultures, creative businesses and inspiring community projects that make these neighbourhoods a cultural melting pot. We will take a short break at a volunteer run ethical food co-op cafe created by a world famous environmental activist group and we will conclude the tour at one of my favourite local markets (weekends only).
I'm Liam, a Melbourne local who loves exploring, protecting our environment and and showcasing an alternative side to Melbourne. I am the founder of an urban eco and alternative culture themed walking tour business, Wayward Wanders. I specialise in small group tours (Max 8) that offer a unique take on Melbourne. My tours focus on Aboriginal history and culture, sustainable living, local cultural icons, street art, urban design and much more. I introduce guests to local social enterprises, community projects and urban gardens, whilst sharing a locals insight into history, current affairs and alternative scenes. I look forward to showing you all the hidden gems of Melbourne!
After meeting at the entrance of the Melbourne Museum we will begin our wander through the cultural melting pot neighbourhoods of Fitzroy and Collingwood. We will cross the trendy and ever buzzing thoroughfares of Brunswick Street and Smith Street, but most of our time will be spent exploring the maze of suburban backstreets.
