Our first stop takes place at a local market ( No not at the Central Market Hall, as that one is a bit too much for tourists) . I want to take you to a location, where not only the locals, but some of our best chefs get their ingredients from. You going to try pastries, salamis, cheeses, fruits etc., you can only find at organic farmers markets, and never in supermarkets. At the food court, that is one of the busiest in Budapest for lunch, I will give you a generous sample of some of or most beloved comfort foods, that restaurants dont even serve, and you will have the chance to dine with the locals...nothing fancy, but, truly authentic. After the market, we will visit one of the oldest butcher shops in the city for some grilled sausage before we dive in to the sweets. You are going to taste some delicious cakes, strudels and chocolates, and so you can relax your bellies, we will visit a true Hungarian "wine bar" where they measure wines not by bottle, but by liter!
Hi I am Orsi, a professional chef who grew up in a " hospitality" family, who also spend every moment of their free time travelling. I know the most essentials of Hungarian cooking and our (comfort) foods, and I am a very active member in the local culinary scene, as I am a food developer, published author of several top selling cook books , and frequently working with Budapest top restaurants and cooking shows as an adviser. My professional life includes cities like Moscow, Singapore, Sydney, and Berlin. Most of all ,on my experience, I want to share information , that a fellow traveler would like to know on their first visit to an unknown city/country and feed you dishes are so close to my heart., that without me you never try. You can check some of my other food stories on Instagram under the name Dipmaker.
