First, we'll meet at the Fish Market in SW DC. It's the oldest seafood market still operating in America today. I'll give you an introduction to the area, including some historical facts about both the market and the types of seafood we'll be eating. You'll get to meet some of the vendors, we'll chat, and take pictures along the way. I'll get to know your personal tastes and interests, and I'll help you pick out your seafood. Then we'll take a short walk on the nearby DC Wharf promenade. You'll get a chance to see the sites of the Wharf, including piers, restaurants, and boats. Finally, we'll learn to make the famous Orange Crush cocktail while feasting on the best rooftop patio on the Wharf overlooking the water! Happy to provide non-alcoholic alternatives for minors and for those who do not drink. ***If you'd like to join but don't see your preferred time slot listed, send me a message! My schedule is flexible. (I'm happy to accommodate solo travelers, large groups, corporate retreats, and celebrations.)
I've lived in DC for almost a decade, and my knowledge of the city is unparalleled. I now live at the Wharf, but I spent my early years in Ocean City, Maryland, a small beach town on the Eastern Shore. Over the last decade in DC, I've worked as a chef, a culinary artist, and as a professional actor and director in theater and film. I have been picking crabs, peeling shrimp, and eating fresh fish my whole life. I'm excited to share my unique insight on how to prepare a true seafood feast. And I'm thrilled to share my secret recipe for the very famous Ocean City cocktail: The Orange Crush.
Orange Crush Cocktail I will also provide non-alcoholic alternatives
We'll meet at Captain White's Seafood, at the center of the Fish Market. In 1805, the market was the heart of the oyster and fish trade. It lives on today with barges and restaurants along the Waterfront. Now known as the Wharf, the area is DC's most modern and new neighborhood after a major redevelopment. We'll walk along the water, and enjoy our feast on a rooftop with the best and most stunning views of SW DC!
This will be a culinary experience to remember! We'll walk the longest continuously operating fish market in America together. Bring an empty stomach, and a sense of adventure.
