The tour I am providing will start by meeting at the local bike shop, where I arrange for E-bike rentals. OnceI have you fitted with bicycles, helmets and binoculars, we'll do a safety talk and review of our route. From there we will ride out to the Cape, stopping to at a few locations along the way seeing nature viewing opportunities and taking some hidden roads that are often missed by visitors. After a break and search for local sea life along the shore, we will ride back to town via a detour along False Bay Road. Once we return to town we'll recap what we saw and then you're on your way to enjoy the rest of your day. The tour typically takes up to a half-day depending on how many things we see. I provide healthy snacks and water to keep us fueled along the way.
My name is Sean, and I'm an avid cyclist, birdwatcher and naturalist. I know the best rides on the island and the best places to seek out opportunities to see some of the beautiful species that both reside and migrate through the amazing San Juan archipelago. I am an active participant/volunteer with local conservation groups, and help improve the local habitats to better enjoy them. My cycling experience includes thousands of miles of bike touring, bike packing and guiding in the US and Mexico. I have also cycled abroad, and seek opportunities to combine cycling with bird watching on all of my personal tours. Recent trips have included cycling around Costa Rica where I observed 262 species, and most recently the Baja Peninsula where I saw 103 species.
E-bikes and helmets provided by Meat Machine Cycles. I will provide binoculars for your use.
We'll visit the Cattle Point Lighthouse, False Bay and seasonal bird locations along the route. These locations vary based on time of year, but are all along our established route, which does not change.
