In this experience, you will enjoy a leisurely walk in the Tramuntana on the beautiful nature trails through the Son Moragues Estate before eating a picnic at the ancient “Ses Puntes” lookout point. For this hike, we will welcome you at the village of Valldemossa, close to the entrance of our estate where we will give you an introduction to our land stewardship program. Our walk will take us along historic sites where you can still see the remains of the economic activity that took place in this region until the mid 20th century. In “Pla d’es Pouet” you will see ruins of lime kilns and charcoal production sites as well as the fountain of “S´Abeurada” whose purpose it was to provide water for the workers living and working in the woods. Throughout the entire route, you will get a practical insight of the flora and fauna of the region, their intrinsic values, and the activities we have developed to preserve this fragile environment. Arriving at the carefully restored lookout point “Ses Puntes” which was originally built by the Archduke of Austria, you will be able to enjoy stunning views over the Tramuntana mountain and the sea beyond. Here you will enjoy a tasty picnic and organic refreshments from our Finca before returning on the trail to your starting point.
My name is Barbara. I am a Sommelier and Nature lover. I have set up my own business organising events in 2014 and since then I have worked with many very talented and like minded people whose desire was always to present Mallorca's treasures to the world. Born in Italy, raised in Greece, I moved to Mallorca 18 years ago. I discovered far more than a beach and sun holiday destination. I discovered an island rich in traditions, with a fascinating cultural heritage. Mallorca is the perfect destination for History and Nature. For the past two years I have had the amazing opportunity to offer guided visits at Son Moragues in Valldemossa and I am so happy to be able to share this with you now.
This walk gives you access to the private Estate of Son Moragues in Valldemossa. In its 700 year old History, this homestead was also at some point the beloved home of the Archduke of Louis Salvador of Austria. It is now still privately owned, and since 2006 it has become a beacon of revival of traditional agricultural methods and ancient culture. Son Moragues now produces world renowned extra virgin organic olive oil.
This walk involves a climb to the lookout and is considered of average difficulty. You will need appropriate shoes as the paths can be rocky at times. However, no particular training is needed as it is quite a short walk. Just bring your smile and your good will and be prepared to be amazed!
