We meet at exactly 10:15 (Spanish) 10 am (English version Thursdays and Fridays) at the main exit of San Javier Metro Station and we go together to the beginning of our great tour of Comuna 13, which starts downhill of Independencia 1 and 2 of Medellin. Before going up the hill on the amazing escalators, which granted us the title of the most innovative city in the world, we will give an introduction of what Comuna 13 has had to survive throughout the years. On the way up, you can also enjoy some delicious and refreshing home made ice-creams and crunchy empanadas (or you can do it on your way down as well). We will be walking all around Independencias 1 and 2, getting to know the real life at Comuna 13, learning about its history, its people and the incredible transformation it has gone through. You´ll experience the true heart of colombia’s art, culture and music. We will finish with a graffiti experience where you will get to do your own graffiti signature. The tour lasts around 2-3 hours. We also offer the tour in Spanish The tour is based on tips, once the tour is over, the guide will ask you to grade his work and pay what you think its worth. This is not a private tour but if you wish to have a private one, we can also manage it, just let us know.
My name is Christine Benson, I studied business administration and cooking. I started as an Airbnb host, I now host 9 different Airbnbs around Colombia, offering tours, experiences. With my husband and 3 other friends we started an NGO based on tourism, integrating it with development projects that impact the community in a positive way. We work directly with the community and with a couple of local guys that give excellent and unique tours based on their own experiences.
