Are you a hat lover, and would you like to learn how to make your own hat? This one-day workshop will enable you to create your own fabulous fascinator hat, and leave with the skills to carry on creating more. You’ll learn how to make a fascinator base stretching material over a hat block, manipulate sinamay straw, use wire, work with veiling, and learn create beautiful decorations. We will meet in my cozy studio in South London. We'll start with a short introduction to hat making, different hat styles, trimmings, and materials. Then you will learn how to make the base of a hat using a traditional hat block, and how to wire and trim the edges. Then you will learn different techniques of trimming and decorating, including veiling, embellishment, steaming tecknique and much more. By the end of the session you will gain invaluable millinery skills and you'll leave with a beautiful finished hat that you made yourself. All materials are included, so there's no need to bring anything. The workshop will last up to three hours. @Please note, by the end of the workshop I will supply with branded bags for your finished hats. However, hat boxes are not included in the price of the workshop, but will be available to purchase in my studio upon request.
Hello. I am an experienced hat designer and founder of Elena Shvab Millinery couture brand, based in South London @ElenaShvab_Millinery. I studied textile design at University of Arts London following renowned HNC in millinery at Kensington and Chelsea College. After graduation, I worked with acclaimed British milliners, and finally established my own millinery brand. I create seasonal hat collections each year. Alongside these main collections, I offer bespoke commissioning services for private clients around the world. Some of these works can be spotted at major events like the Royal Ascot and the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Were published in numerous magazines such as Tatler, The Guardian, The Hat Magazine, etc. In addition I am running millinery workshops hosting students from around the world. You will come to my studio in South London. You can take Northern or Victoria lines to Stockwell underground Station. My studio is located 12 min walk from the station. There is a free parking space in case if you are traveling by car. The entrance to the studio is via gated car parking yard. There is a blue door and "401 1/2 studio" sign. Ring a bell on a right hand side and I will let you know.
