This is a PRIVATE TOUR for just you and your family or friends. The walking tour will start with exploring the city's heritage and historic sites which covers many iconic colonial-era buildings. I will guide you through the big landmarks clustered around the Independence Square while highlighting the small but significant details. As we leisurely stroll along, you'll hear personal and inspirational stories of the people who shaped KL. Discover the chronology from the founding, the naming of the city and her growth through the years at the River of Life. See and take photos of the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, from which the city derived its name. Located on the eastern bank of the Klang River, we will explore the pre-war shophouses at the Medan Pasar Square, which were once the original township and open market of Kuala Lumpur in the 1860s. Adjacent to this square is the Central Market which is today a leading cultural centre filled with handicraft shops and restaurants. The tour continues towards Chinatown at Petaling Street. We will walk along the covered bazaar offering interesting bargains for local oddities, taste local snacks along the way and explore some of the oldest shophouses in Kuala Lumpur. The walk ends after we've explored a traditional Chinese and Hindu temple. These are some of the oldest places of worship established in the city.
I was born and raised in Malaysia and have lived in Kuala Lumpur for over 40 years. In 2002, I left the corporate world as a Product Engineer for Texas Instruments Semiconductor and I am now a freelance Licensed Tourist Guide. Since 2017, I have been actively guiding cycling tours that covers the city's inner and outer areas. Hosting these cycling tours for MikeBikes KL has allowed guests to see and experience the city's places of interest that are a mix of community, rich heritage, unique culture and iconic landmarks that are rich in history. I love meeting people from different countries, knowing their culture and traditions. Exploring the city with a local makes things more enjoyable and I am enthusiastic to continue sharing my passion & experiences with anyone looking for a unique, lively and friendly adventure in Kuala Lumpur.
