They are measured out in plates and trays for all the dishes, so all you need to do is cut, slice, chop, dice them up. Mise en place is just as important, if not more when it comes to cooking. So always prepare your ingredients before you start the stove. You will get a feel for authentic Thai culture through the preparation of Southern Thai cuisine. Learn the art of balancing flavors and cooking complete dishes from scratch, with traditional utensils and techniques. The preparation of curry paste is one of the most unique and important aspects of Thai cooking, and you will learn about herbs and spices as you grind then together in a stone mortar. You will prepare the following 4 dishes: Massaman Curry, Spicy Prawn Soup (Tom Yam Goong), Stir Fried Chicken with Cashew Nut and Lab Kai (Chicken Mint Salad). Your class ends with you enjoying the Thai specialties that you have spent the morning/afternoon preparing. Return home with new culinary skills in stir-frying, making curries, Thai soups and salads, that will impress your friends and family.
I am Chonlaya Laothong, the host of Ya's Cookery in Krabi Southern Thailand. I am a professional Chef and master of Thai Cuisine holding a diploma of Food Nutrition from Rajamangala Institute of Technology, earned after two years training at the prestigious Siam International Hotel in Bangkok. Since 1983, I performed a variety of roles as a professional chef in Jakarta, Luxembourg and Bangkok. Shortly after serving as the food & beverage manager at Ao Nang Villa Resort, I discovered my true passion back in 2000, with the opening of Krabi’s first Thai cookery school. With my love for cooking, jovial personality, and attentive nature, I want to share my extensive experience of Southern Thai cuisine with my guests. I taught students from around the world (including the famous Chef Gordon Ramsey) the secrets of traditional Thai Cuisine.
Students will have a chance to taste what they cook and receive a free recipe book.

We will be using my spacious outdoor covered kitchen with tons of work space to enjoy the cooking experience together. The professional Thai kitchen is situated at a small river in the backyard of Ao Nang. The fresh ingredients used in Thai cuisine we will get directly from the potteries and plants in our herb garden.
All dishes can be adapted to your needs, taste or vegetarian preferences. There is an extra charge of 500 THB for the round-trip transfer from Klong Muang or Tubkaek Beach. There is an extra charge of 200 THB per person for the round-trip transfer from Krabi Town.
