You'll start by learning how to make your own dumpling wrappers from scratch. We will begin with mixing and kneading the dough. Then we will mix up pork and other ingredients for the filling. (Vegetarian & non- pork option is available upon request.) During this experience, you will learn the proper techniques on how to use a rolling pin to create perfectly round wrappers and how to pleat the dough together to create a beautiful dumpling shape. When the dumplings are ready to be cooked, the chef will show you how to prepare them steamed and pan-fried. Lastly, you’ll whip up your own dipping sauce before digging in. The chef will have some authentic freshly pre-made side dishes for you to eat with the dumplings. To wash it down, you'll have the option of traditionally brewed loose leaf Chinese tea or water. Please let us know ahead of time of any food allergies, or concerns. We are family friendly, anyone above age 10 can join the experience.
Henry and Yu-Ching are the dumpling duo! Henry immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan and Yu-Ching joined him from China over 30 years ago. Their love story began through their love of cooking while they both worked at a restaurant in Chinatown, Washington D.C. For the past 15+ years, they have worked in the Chinese restaurant industry and specialize in dumpling making. In addition to dumplings, they can also make Chinese pancakes, pork buns, scallion rolls, and mantou buns. They are now retired, but still want to share their talents with amateurs, foodies, and DIM SUM! ;) You won’t be disappointed! Prepare to wow your friends and family at the next gathering with authentic Chinese dumplings.

The class will take place in our home in Silver Spring, MD. There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. It is located ten minutes from Glenmont metro on the redline or 15 from Rockville metro. Please inquire if you need transportation from the metro.

The two chefs are not completely fluent in English. They have a very elementary English vocabulary, but they should be able to answer most questions.
