If you want to have a unique experience of hiking in the forest to find the elephants everyday and observe their natural behaviours in their home environment, then you have found the right place. Come and join us for the experience of a lifetime! Volunteers and visitors must be physically fit to hike everyday up and down mountains to get to the elephants.
Day 1: Pickup from Chiang Mai at 9am at our meeting point. You will then travel through a national park and stunning mountains inhabited by local hill tribes until you arrive in our unique village. You will meet your homestay family, our friendly staff and the other volunteers, immerse yourself in hilltribe culture by cooking with your homestay and learning how to basket weave from one of the elders in the village. You will also have the opportunity to purchase unique woven souvenirs from the women in the village if you so wish.
Day 2: Wake up early and come to breakfast at 7am at our base hut. We provide a basic but delicious western breakfast. We will then begin the hike into the forest and find our elephants. Hikes usually last for an hour and a half each way to find the elephants. You will then spend all morning/afternoon observing and learning about them and their natural behaviours. You will have lunch in the forest with the elephants and return to Chiang Mai in the afternoon.
