NOTE! IF BOOKING A TRIP WITHIN 24 HRS OF DEPARTURE PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE OR CALL ME TO CONFIRM THE TRIP IS AVAILABLE! Group times are often customizable, especially with groups of 4 or more. Contact me if a particular time is best for you. We offer a midday, afternoon and evening cruise (2.5hr whale watching if possible) every day of the week. When you arrive I will shuttle you out to Dove IV, my 36 foot steel hulled cutter rigged sloop, where we will go on a sailing adventure around the Port San Luis area. You can try your hand behind the helm, raising sails, or just go forward and enjoy the magic of wind and seas and check out the marine life. The area around Port San Luis is vibrant with history and sea life, including whales, dolphins, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals and many different kinds of birds, to mention a few. Please note, this is first and foremost an authentic sailboat experience. If the whales are nearby, we will make a point of going out and watching them, but whales are whales and sometimes are farther out than we can get to in a 2.5 hour trip. custom private trips available @ $120 / hr. Thank you

I am a marine biologist and natural resource interpreter with a passion for exploration and adventure. My life revolves around water - from working as a research diver along California's coast to guiding people down whitewater rapids on the Trinity River to researching the marine ecosystems of the most remote island on the planet with National Geographic. My dream is to be able to share the joy of sailing and hopefully depart some greater understanding of the marvels of nature on my guests.
We will pass by the Port San Luis Pier as we head over to the first whaling stations at Port San luis. From there we will hoist the sails and head out past the breakwater in search of what sea life might be out there. Then we will head towards Pirates Cove and check out the sea otters in the big kelp bed!
