You'll begin in the Nolley Art House Great Room where we'll circle-up for a demo on the classic art media of charcoal and soft pastels. Following the demo, you will be given a map of the surrounding landscape that will lead you to your own, private-set-up easel; set with all provisions for an artist's escape. You will draw over the course of two hours and I will offer artistic direction, and drawing tips. To complete the outdoor experience -galoshes on foot- I will lead you to see a unique aspect of the property, a natural spring.
As a child, I was deeply moved by the healing powers of art and nature. These two elements offered me an outlet for my emotions, the inspiration to get creative, and ultimately, these two impactful experiences gave me the tools to live a meditative and thankful life. Now, 20 years an artist, I want to share this experience, Drawing in Rural Appalachia, with others because I believe they also will enjoy drawing while nestled outdoors.
Nolley Art House will supply easels, charcoal, soft pastels, newsprint paper, pastel paper, kneaded erasers, blender sticks,…
We will conduct our art experience at the beautiful Nolley Art House, a home-turned-arts-venue. This house was built in the '60s, with handmade brick from a previous homestead. Nolley Art House is uniquely welcoming and is surrounded by 8 acres of rural Appalachia.
5歳以上の方2名まで参加できます。保護者同伴の2歳未満のお子様も参加可能です。 Guests should feel comfortable outdoors and be able to lightly climb and/or hike.
This experience includes light physical activity. There are stairs, hills, water, and even a small section of easy scrambling. So, consider bringing attire for any type of weather. We also have space for an indoor art technique class, if that is what guests prefer.
