Our experience begins in Hacienda Los Eucaliptos, the home of over 150,000 coffee trees, located in the mountains of Lares, Puerto Rico. In this family-owed third generation farm, we will learn the history of the coffee industry in Puerto Rico while walking through the Hacienda, hearing a first-hand recount of the inspirational story of the Torres family, learning the process of coffee farming/production, and tasting delicious hand-crafted coffee straight from the farm. The experience is designed for all ages, coffee lovers, nature lovers, or those who would love to learn more about the coffee journey in Puerto Rico. You will have access to the main casona in the Hacienda, filled with antiques and family history. Our co-host, Jose Luis Torres, is a third-generation coffee farmer and roaster, who is the youngest certified coffee cupper in the world. Jose Luis Torres assisted in designing the coffee tasting in this experience, and for most of the experiences, we will count with his presence and expertise. The facilities include a small animal farm, a viewpoint to the mountains, and bathrooms.
Life in the mountains, living in the Puerto Rican countryside and growing up in a coffee farm has shaped my personal growth. For many years, I worked on various areas of the coffee industry. I have been an adventure guide since 2005 for Aventureo PR. My passion for adventure and love for coffee has guided me to partner with a third generation coffee farmer. Their hacienda has more than 150,000 coffee trees and the largest coffee nursery on the island. We designed this experience to share the inspiring story of how a humble farmer became one of the largest coffee roasters in Puerto Rico.
