Imagine the perfect evening in Antwerp: enjoy the view on the city from the Scheldt's leftbank, walk through the historical city center towards the MAS for a truly breathtaking view, finishing off our evening with a local drink (jenever) at a local bar. Sounds amazing right? Join me for a unique tour and see the best of Antwerp. The tour is either in English or Dutch. My French is not impeccable, but I would be able to answer your questions in French. If you prefer, I can arrange for someone to join us who can also answer your questions in German.
My name is Joke (which is an unfortunate name in English but a common name in Flanders). I've been living and working in Antwerp for more than 10 years now, pretty close to the city center, which makes the Antwerp streets the decor of my life: strolling around, reading about the history, having a drink in a nice bar or eating out (I have many recommendations to make). During the daytime I'm working as a project lead for an IT company in Antwerp. Next to that I'm always keen to keep learning and evolving, both in IT (I'm all into Data Science for the moment) but also personal level. You could best describe me as a 'people person'. I believe in combining historic facts with "wistjedatjes" (fun facts). I am very excited about sharing this beautiful city with people from all around the world.
On our way back we'll stop at a local bar for a local drink (jenever).
We'll start the Brabo statue and make our way to the Scheldt's leftbank gazing at the city of Antwerp from the other side of the river. We'll continue our adventure through the St Anna Tunnel with its unique real wooden escalators. I'll take you through the historic city center and tell you more about Brabo and the Giant and how this story relates to the name of our beautiful city.
