Dalston is a diverse, cool and fast-changing area, home to a growing creative community. On this wandering we'll explore some of the area's hidden gems, old and new, including a secret garden, a vibrant multicultural market, a colourful house, a Victorian cemetery and a beautiful Turkish mosque. Hear some of the stories and meet some of the people that make London such a special city. We will stop for tea/ brunch at a local independent bakery or cafe. I will show you how I find and archive London gems so that you can think about recording your own explorations. I'll also share with you ways in which you can create meaningful connections to the communities, individuals and spaces you might encounter on your own wanderings.
Founder of the Living London tour company, and a lifelong Londoner, I've explored, photographed and written about over a thousand hidden gems across the city, from bingo halls and burial grounds to wild nature reserves and quirky art galleries. Through my explorations, I've met hundreds of interesting Londoners - artists, urban explorers, filmmakers, storytellers, mudlarks, conservationists- even a lighthouse keeper. I've been leading secret wanderings in different areas of London for years. I know the city inside out- it's people, places and stories. Find me at @livinglon / livinglondon.org
