You will start your adventure by watching a coffee roasting demonstration by the Amazing Tino. Each person will be able to take turns to roast the coffee. You will learn about different types of beans, the regions they come from, several ways to roast coffee in your very own home and some tips to make the perfect cup of Joe. We will have a coffee tasting and each person will go home with a 1/2 pound bag of freshly roasted coffee. Next you will venture into the pottery studio, learn how pottery is made and hand-build your very own mug. You will be guided through each step to successfully make a mug from a slab of clay, decorate it and personalize it. All the tools and supplies will be provided. After your mug is made it will need to dry for 7-10 days, then bisque fired, after that it will be glazed for you (in the color of your choice) and fired again. The mug will be available for pick up in about 2 weeks or it can be shipped anywhere in the world for a small fee. No experience required. Please wear clothes and shoes that you can get a little dirty. We provide aprons, however you're still likely to get clay on your clothes, and shoes. But it'll be well worth it!
Christine & Tino
I’m Christine Silbaugh of Back Bay Pottery in Los Osos CA. I was born and raised here on the central coast. Growing up in this beautiful area I couldn’t help but be inspired by nature, birds, leaves, flowers, and the ocean. I was raised by artists and crafters and have been creating my whole life. I was taught how to look at things, not for what they are but for what they can become. I have been running a successful pottery business for almost 10 years. My husband Tino has perfected the art of home roasted coffee and he has been roasting coffee for our family and friends for over 9 years.
